Faninjas!

We are fans of Ask A Ninja, so we made this widget. I know I said we were done, but we decided to go out with a bang! Enjoy!

NASA Image of the Day

Space. The final frontier. Also, our latest widget. I am totally ruining the cadence and meaning of this iconic phrase.

Yes, we just completed a new widget. The NASA Image of the Day widget. We are fans of space and space exploration. If you are also a fan of these things, put this widget on your site.

Candidate Widgets

July 11th, 2008 by Dave

As the 2008 presidential election approaches, we are reminded of all that has happened in the last year or so. We have tried to keep our candidate widgets up to date as best we can, as well as the list of current and past candidates. Sometimes, however, we miss stuff. Luckily, people more aware than we are send us friendly requests and reminders.

With that, I am pleased to introduce the Bob Barr and Ralph Nader presidential campaign widgets.

Yep, our “current candidate” count jumped back up to four from two. Awesome.

Enjoy.

Nabberhackey Update

June 11th, 2008 by Dave

Update for project Nabberhackey: Main widget package structure is complete. What does this mean? Well, in order to offer downloads of our widgets, we need to know what to package together. We have updated our code and put together the archetype for the downloadable package.

The download will include things like the compiled swf, some usage instructions, and some configuration files. We may also include information and instructions on how to track widget usage as well. Actually, and this isn’t something we have discusses, but we might even just throw in an entire widget tracking package. Jared, what are your thoughts? I could probably ask you this in person…

Anyway, that is where we stand. I am going to start developing the user facing site soon.

We keep moving forward.

This was fun to make and it is just as fun to use (I think, anyway, but I am biased.) Check it out and let us know what you think.

This or That [Update]

New widget: This or That

UPDATE: 130 new polls created today. We suspect that someone with some weird obsession made them all, but notwithstanding it is still pretty exciting. Have you made your own poll yet?

Wishlist

January 30th, 2008 by Dave

Born from our inability to find anything similar, we present to you Wishlist. Our first Widget/Web App. (Wigapp? Wapget? Anyone?)

Wishlist

Wishlist is a an application with which you can keep a wish list of things you would like, and then show those things on your website with our handy widget. The unique part of this simple project, however, is that it lives entirely on Widgetbox. Besides our description page and a bookmarklet, this application is built for working in the Widgetbox distribution platform. We did this for a couple of reasons, but the most prominent is that we want to test how an application in Widgetbox might perform.

So, without further ado, we officially launch version 1.0 of Wishlist: powered by WidgetNest in to the wild. We realize that it is very simple, but we already have plans for improvements and extra features. So, until then, please enjoy and let us know what you think.

Thanks.

Brides.com just released some new countdown widgets on Widgetbox. Here is one:

And guess what? We made them! Yep, Brides.com, through Widgetbox, asked WidgetNest to help them develop some wedding countdown widgets. It was a great and fun project.

2007 The year of the web widget

November 20th, 2007 by jared

Dave will tell you that I like to look at stats. I like to look at stats so much he restricted my access to the widget stats! That’s all right though because I am much more productive when I don’t have access to lots of stats. Recently I was doing some research that I thought some of you might like to look at.

Wordpress has gotten a huge jump on the widget space right now as far as searches go but the others are gaining on them. Web widgets are a growing area as we find out daily here at Widget Nest.

Our New Services

October 9th, 2007 by Dave

Widget Hosting

We now offer widget hosting. We have had several requests for this from people that did not have their own hosting options. Until now we have not been able to fulfill their requests. We are glad to announce that now we can offer widget hosting, powered by our host - 1&1

Branded Pages

Another service we are please to announce is Branded Pages. Now along with building custom widgets we can also make custom distribution platforms that allow users to embed the widget on to their website. The benefits of this are that we can keep the code up to date and that the page will still reflect our clients page design and branding.

Widget Management

Finally, we are now offering widget management. Say you wanted a widget that could display quotes or some other content that needs to be updated regularly. Now we can provide our clients with administrative accounts for their widgets, enabling them to keep their content up to date without having to worry about maintain the back end. Because we also make the widgets, we can be sure to streamline the entire experience.
